**THE STORY:**
Joan of Arc (Jeanne d’Arc), peasant girl who heard voices, led French army to victories against English during Hundred Years’ War. Captured 1430, sold to English, tried for heresy in Rouen, burned at stake in Place du Vieux Marché, May 30, 1431. She was 19 years old. Rehabilitated 1456, canonized 1920. French national heroine.
